Alessio Pisani began his musical studies at the age of thirteen with Camogli’s Marching Band. His artistic path was always set out with an intense research and growth on the technique and repertoire of both Bassoon and Contrabassoon. He graduated at the Conservatory Niccolò Paganini of Genova in 1992 under the guidance of M° Claudio Gonella.
Afterwards, he studied with M° Paolo Garlini at the Conservatory Luigi Cherubini of Florence and attended Masterclasses held by Marco Costantini, Milan Turkovic, Michael Werba and Valentino Zucchiatti. In 1996 he started playing the Contrabassoon improving his technique thanks to M° Domenico Romano, who played the Contrabassoon in the prestigious RAI Symphony Orchestra between the 70s and the 80s.
Alessio Pisani played the Contrabassoon in Teatro La Scala’s Orchestra and Philharmonic from 1996 to 2001, then at Teatro Carlo Felice from 2001 to 2004. He also worked, among the others, with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, RAI National Symphony Orchestra, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra, Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, Orchestra della Toscana, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana (Switzerland).
During his whole career he played with well-known conductors such as C.M. Giulini, C. Abbado, R. Muti, G. Sinopoli, G. Pretre, L. Maazel, W. Sawallisch, L. Berio, Z. Mehta, V. Gergiev, R. F. De Burgos, K. Petrenko, M. Whun Chung, B .Bartoletti, R. Chailly. touring in Germany, France, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Japan, and Australia. He was also involved in many projects for record labels such as Amadeus or Amirani Records.
He has taught at the Conservatory Cesare Pollini of Padova and the Conservatory Benedetto Marcello of Venice and has been teaching at the Conservatory Niccolò Paganini of Genova since 2011. In 2013 he founded the “LowB” Bassoon Cluster of which he’s also the Artistic Director. In 2015, thanks to his efforts, the ARKME, Ark Music Ensemble, was brought to life.
