Elias Nardi – Oud (Arabic Lute)

Born in Pescia (near Pistoia) in 1979, Elias Nardi, a true Tuscan, lover of life, inquisitive explorer of inner and external worlds, musician, composer and producer, developed an interest for the Middle-East and the Oud (the traditional Arabic lute) from a very young age, making numerous trips throughout the Arabic region and conducting extensive research. In November 2010, Elias successfully released his debut album ‘OrangeTree’, together with virtuoso nyckelharpa player Didier François (3rd place at the Italian Awards for Independent Popular Music 2011, presented on the occasion of the Italian meeting of independent labels MEI, and a permanent presence in the TOP 200 of the World Music Chart of Europe). His second album, ‘The Tarot Album’, obtained the same success with both the public and the critics and was selected as one of the best albums released in 2012, among others, by “Il Manifesto / Alias”. She has collaborated with: Ares Tavolazzi , Riccardo Tesi, Paolo Vinaccia, Daniele Di Bonaventura, Gianluca Petrella, Edmondo Romano, Max Manfredi, Max De Aloe, Didier François, Fakhraddin Gafarov.

 

Daniele Di Bonaventura – Bandoneon

Born in Fermo (in the Marche region), Daniele Di Bonaventura, composer, arranger, pianist and bandoneonist, developed a strong interest for musical improvisation right from the beginning of his career, despite his classical musical studies, including piano performing, cello performing, composition and orchestral conducting (diploma in Composition).
He has played, recorded and collaborated with: Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, A Filetta, Oliver Lake, David Murray, Miroslav Vitous, Rita Marcotulli, Dave Liebman, Toots Thielemans, Omar Sosa, Flavio Boltro, Joanne Brackeen, Greg Osby, Ira Coleman, Dino Saluzzi, Javier Girotto, Cèsar Stroscio, Tenores di Bitti, Enzo Favata, Aires Tango, Peppe Servillo, David Riondino, Francesco Guccini, Sergio Cammariere, Lella Costa, Eugenio Allegri, Alessandro Haber, Giuseppe Piccioni, Mimmo Cuticchio, Custòdio Castelo, Andrè Jaume, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Furio Di Castri, U.T. Ghandi, Luis Agudo.

 

Carlo La Manna – Fretless Bass / Six String Bass

An eclectic musician, he performs both in Italy and abroad. A composer and a writer, he has released six solo albums and twenty CDs with various bands and collaborations, as well as a book of poetic tales. He has collaborated with: Sam Rivers, Didier François, Giovanni Sollima, Paolo Vinaccia, Philip Glass, Arvo Pàrt, Antonella Ruggiero, Michele Abbondanza, Antonella Bertoni.

 

Didier François – Viola D’Amore a Chiavi

Didier François: Classical education – Violin: Myriam Quersin (successor of Arthur Grumiaux, conservatorium Brussels) – Composition: Daan Manneke (conservatorium Amsterdam). Jazz: education workshop with Philip Caterine, Hein Van De Geyn, Maarten Weiler. Professional experience: pedagogic teaching for seven years; music school: Ward de Beer, Kantekleer, Antwerp Conservatorium. Compositions: ballet, theatre and film music – Bergtocht Dirk Opstaelen – several musical compositions for short films for Kladaradatsch productions Violin + nyckelharpa: – chamber opera Transparant – guest at the Vanersborg Festival (Sweden) – guest of Stefane Grappelli at the Audi Jazz Festival (Belgium) – guest of Gabriel Yacoub Amsterdam, St. Chartier festival ( France) – Michel Risler, with Armand Amar for Costa-Gavras (Amen, Le Couperet) and Eric Vali, Laïs, in Canada, USA, Finland, France, Germany and Austria – solo live performing of The Lord of the rings by Howard Shore

 

Nazanin Piri – Flute

Born in Teheran (Iran), Nazanin Piri-Niri graduated summa cum laude in piano performance at the Lübeck Music College, in the class of Professor Manfred Fock.
In 2010 she continued her studies and obtained a Master’s Degree in piano performance at the International College of Music in Hamburg and a degree in Musicology at the Freie Universität in Berlin. She attended numerous master classes and private courses, with teachers of international standing, including Professor Friedhelm Döhl, Professor Konstanze Eickhorst, Heidrun Holtmann, Anthony Spiri, and Stephan Möller. At the same time, she performed as solo musician and as a member of chamber music ensembles at numerous concerts, including at the “National Festival of Music” in Paris, and on NDR Radio in Germany. In 2010 she collaborated with Iranian choreographer Modjgan Hashemian, composing and performing the music for an event held in Berlin on the occasion of an exhibition by Emil Nolde. Nazanin Piri has also performed numerous times on Iranian television channel KlikSat, playing her own original music.

In 2011 she toured as part of the piano duo created with pianist Neda Navaee, taking part in numerous festivals and concerts, including the ‘Woman’s Arts Project’ in Vienna. Since 2009, she has been participating in numerous charitable projects, playing for Iranian refugees, and she recently performed with the Elias Nardi Group at the centre for political asylum seekers in Berlin. She is currently also collaborating with the Elias Nardi Group as a pianist and flautist in numerous concerts and tours, particularly in Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy, and is collaborating with other musicians of international fame including Daniele Di Bonaventura and Didier François.
